We had the amazing opportunity to camp outside the Biltmore for Overland Expo east. Only a 2 mile bike ride from our camp we rode through the beautiful estate with a bike trail lined with sunflowers and the Blueridge mountain overlook. We arrived to the little village full of shops, food and history to tour the wine cellars of the Biltmore. You walk through this long brick lined corridor feeling the cool temperature at exactly 65 degrees, where wine should be stored, then up the stairs to the wine tasting room. There are 4 bars with people to attend to you and taste the wines they have available. You are allowed to try five to seven wines for free to figure out which ones you like. I mostly chose the bold reds and limited releases that they do not sell all the time. J.R. chose most of the sweet wines and the roses’ but neither of us had a favorite that we raved about. Once finished we walked through their huge store full of fun foods, wines and Biltmore souvenirs. Although new this past year is their wine bar outside of the store where you can sit enjoy a glass of wine and small plates. We both enjoyed some blanc de noir with cheese and charcuterie…as you can see our favorite things to dine on while we chat and enjoy each others company. Found a cheese that is to die for called Perrano which tastes like Manchego and Parmesan combined, DELICIOUS, so we bought some packaged to take home!
