Our last stop for the day after visiting Brookeville Beer Farm and Waredaca Brewing, all within a 10 mile radius of each other which is super convenient for nutters like us! Granted this is not the actual winery but the tasting room in a shopping center. We actually found a great tasting deal on Groupon and each got to try 5 wines. The tasting room was very filled for a rainy Saturday and was cozy with a large square bar. The staff was very friendly and informational. The wines were very sweet for my liking but we were in Maryland so most wines tend to be sweet from the eastern shore area.
They had a fabulous cheese and meat tray which you have to munch on while drinking wine. We both seemed to like their reds more than whites, seemed more bold and not as watery. We found two we ended up purchasing to bring home. We try to find at least one bottle we would like to take home and remember the experience. We brought home the Australian Grenache/Cabernet blend which was one of their special limited bottles that wouldn’t be around always nor sold in stores. Fun little atmosphere to end the day if your in the area.

We were able to enjoy our Labor Sunday at the beautiful Springfield Manor located in Thurmont, Maryland outside of Frederick, Maryland. Gorgeous weather and beautiful view of rolling hills filled with grape vines and lavender fields. The best part about this place is its a winery, brewery and distillery all in one, so we felt like we hit the jack pot for one real great time! We of course started at the wine tasting room and tried their whole list. I was a big fan of their Chardonnay whilst J.R. ended up picking the wine slushi again hahaha! I cannot blame him because this wine slushi he chose was rose flavored and not overly sweet. We took those drinks up to the back side of the winery to stare at pretty Maryland hills. Over to the right of us was a separate building for weddings and or other events. There was an actual wedding happening that day so that couple and all the others who get married there have a gorgeous backdrop! We ordered some small plates since they sell food and do not allow anyone to bring food in but the small plates of cheese and charcuterie were perfect to dine on while enjoying the beautiful day and our company. Unfortunately, they were so busy and ran out of the three beers they make so we were not able to try them. We did get to try their spirits though so if you would like to read more about them please click on our spirits page!

During our first actual trip hours from home we were able to spend part of the day at Linganore Winecellars located in Mount Airy, Maryland. We have had their wine wine before at local wine festivals but their vineyard in person is worth seeing! They are the oldest winery in Maryland since 1972. Again their wines are on the sweeter side for me but the operation of handling the many visitors there on a rainy Saturday was very interesting to see from an organized mind. You can choose to taste the dryer or the sweeter wines which shows their is a wide range of varietals they have. I of course chose the dryer wines while J.R. chose the sweeter wines but we both tried a little of each others. We agreed on liking the Retriever Red which is their popular red blend to take home with us. They allow people to bring in their own food as well while enjoying their wines. We did pack a picnic but decided to enjoy our pickings at their Brewery just a few steps away. Click on the Craft Beer menu option to read about their onsite brewery.
